This course covers applied communications techniques that will serve the student in the process of securing employment and functioning within an organization. The focus is on creating and delivering documents and verbal presentaions that effectively achieve the objective with target audiences from the HR department of a prospective employer to the customer in a retail environment to an organization’s corporate clients.
High school graduation or equivalent; or 18 years of age. A written essay from the student explaining the reasons for interest in the program and how the program can assist the student to meet future goals.
The minimum level of English language proficiency is one of the following:
● English 12- minimum final grade “C” or Cornerstone Placement test – Level 5. (This placement test uses the Placement Evaluation Package Interchange 3 Third Edition and passages second edition from Cambridge.)

Upon completion of this course the successful student will be able to:
1. Create informative and positive messages using appropriate media, technology and social media.
2. Identify reasons for negative messaging and take remedial action.
3. Utilize the optimal content and tone to persuade clients.
4. Build effective resumes.
5. Write effective job applications and cover letters and analyze those received by the organization.
6. Perform well in the interview environment as either the applicant or organization representative.
7. Effectively follow up after interviews to promote successful company-employee relationships.
8. Deliver effective oral presentations.
